Who knows about comfortable footwear better than anyone else? An orthopedic surgeon whose years of practice and research proved that most foot pain is caused by ill-fitting shoes. That is why Taryn Rose designed a line of footwear that is both comfortable – day in and day out. Taryn Rose International is the only shoe company to use Poron®  (memory foam) padding – a cushioning structure created by NASA that retains 95% of resiliency after years of wear.

The company also gives importance to luxury and sophistication. This  Rebel platform wedge is one example of comfort and style mix together. It is made of imported calf leather and is mainly hand-sewn in Italy. Its simplicity illustrates sheer elegance and opulent materials. The four-inch wedge heel not only gives a nice lift but also gives support with its ergonomic arch and  Poron® insole padding. While its elegant design makes if flexible to go with  any outfit.

On sale now at $192.50, this pair is definitely a better investment than any of those expensive, pretentious brands.

Looking for something to dazzle up your special night? This shoe may be the right one for you – Tamra by Bakers. This snake embossed leather sandal is highlighted with charming multi-colored jewels. The jewels also are cut in different sizes so that they give extra spark. Although this sandal comes only in silver, the style and color will match many evening dresses – from that little black dress to that shimmery cocktail dress.

It is available from sizes 5 1/2 – 7 1/2 but it surprisingly comes small so even those who wear small sizes may find this sandal a perfect fit for them. Most importantly, the price has been reduced to just $29.99.

I had been eying on this for months and almost lost hope on it. I did not want to buy it then since the price was a bit too much for me. I was so thrilled when it finally went on sale!

Red Shoes to Rave About November 3, 2009

BAKERSAfter raving about those red shoes made by top designers to re-create Dorothy’s iconic red slippers, I could not help searching the Internet to find red shoes that are as attractive yet, reasonably affordable. Since BAKERS is one of my favorite stores to browse footwear, I checked their website and found these equally adorable shoes but for so much less.

These enticing satin peep-toe pumps will give every woman that alluring, feminine look for special occasions and formal events.  The wrapped ruffle decor accentuates the overall look of the shoes giving the feet an extra arch while the four-and-a-half inch heels give every woman the extra lift. This minimal yet sophisticated design reminds us that there is so much beauty in simple elegance.Plus, fashion doesn’t have to be expensive.

Dorothy’s flashy red slippers may be iconic but these shoes are a reason enough to make Dorothy wish she lived in the 21st century!

Recreating Dorothy’s Red Shoes

Dorothy shoesWho would have not noticed those strikingly bright red shoes?  Dubbed as “the most iconic shoes in movie history”, Dorothy’s red shoes were recreated by today’s top designers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” and brought possible by Warner Bros. Consumer Products and CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements. The online auction happened in September and was open to every bidder in the world to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The materials varied from embossed leather to silk; the styles ranged from stilettos to ballet flats. Still, each shoe design retained the spark and brightness of the original shoes through glittering Swarovski crystals.

It might be too late to bid now but it is still great to see the shoes those 19 selected designers came up with. Among the designers were Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Betsey Johnson, Diane von Furstenberg, and Oscar de la Renta.  All designs are  fun and charming but the winner for me is the classy and sleek design by Oscar de la Renta.

Deanna Canvas Sneaker by Juicy Couture October 29, 2009

Juicy Couture

Deanna Canvas

Juicy Couture is originally known for its velour tracksuits. Madonna even made them a trend. However, Juicy Couture has more to offer than just tracksuits. Today, the brand also carries handbags, accessories, jewelry, high-end apparel, perfumes, and footwear.

While everyone was going crazy over Havaianas, I chose to buy Juicy Couture sandals and never regretted a day. Not only were they a fabulous find, they were also surprisingly comfortable. The insoles were much softer than Havaianas. Plus, they looked more sophisticated – bejeweled letter J charm, floral prints, and Juicy Couture logo printed across the sides. I found another reason to love Juicy Couture and check their site more often.

My latest favorite is a pair of sneakers – Deanna Canvas in pink. Sneakers are usually associated with comfort, but with style? Not necessarily. Yet with these sneakers, Juicy Couture made comfort and cuteness come together. The classic canvas  gets a fabulous and playful look with Peace Love Juicy print. Added to that is the embossed slogan, “Smells like Couture” on the rubber soles. Want more details? What about the crown and brand logo on the flap and on the insoles. Not to mention, the crown on the heels. Now, that’s what I call juicy details.

This pair is perfect for girls (and ladies) who want to give their casual look a zing. The prints on the canvas and  soles make one feel special that Juicy Couture put so much details into their products yet,  feel comfortable with the subtlety. This is suitable for people who want to know they are wearing intricate designs but do not want to be seen from a mile away.

Slither Boot by Christian Siriano for Payless October 28, 2009

PaylessWhen I went to the mall a few days ago, I was amazed to find eye-catching shoes at Payless Shoe Source.  I found out that Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway’s fourth season has collaborated with Payless to market his shoes and bags. Although, I found all of his shoes trendy,  a pair of ankle boots in printed satin stood out. I  like teal and gold together but I never thought teal and bronze looked good as well. Until now.

This pair promises comfort with its satin lining and padded insole. However,  if you are like me who prefer cuteness over comfort, this pair will certainly give you the look you want. Round toe, with its cone heels and bronze zipper accentuated with a bronze cone pull, what else could you ask for? Not only will these ankle boots be a good show off this fall but also give a flashy color to dull winter. Pair with dark skinny jeans, black leggings, or a nice dress, these boots will surely catch some attention.

Personally, I like the shoes. Would I buy them? Sure. Selling at $49.99, they may cost more than most shoes at Payless but with Christian Siriano’s promising career – working with top designers like Alexander McQueen, his designs are bound to get more expensive. He could be the next Michael Kors for all we know. Plus, this is a good and cheaper way of having that top fashion experience.
